Robline anchor line in 16-plait polyester is an easy-to-handle choice for those who want to anchor with an anchor line without weight. The braided construction provides a soft rope that feels comfortable in the hand and is easy to pay out and retrieve, which is especially well suited to traditional rope handling when you throw the anchor by hand.

At one end there is a ready-made spliced eye with a stainless steel thimble. The thimble helps protect the eye from chafe from shackles and fittings, giving you a more durable attachment over time. Simply connect the shackle and anchor and you can get started right away.

Choose the right diameter for your boat size

The anchor lines are available in three diameters, where the choice mainly affects what boat size it suits: Ø10 mm (up to 2.0 ton), Ø12 mm (up to 3.5 ton) and Ø14 mm (up to 6.0 ton). A thicker anchor line gives you more to hold onto and more margin for a heavier boat, while a thinner diameter keeps weight and storage volume down.

How to get better grip when anchoring

For the anchor to lie at the correct angle to the seabed, it is common to calculate an anchor line that is about 5 – 6 times the depth. With 40 meter of anchor line, that means it is suitable for anchoring in up to 8 meters of depth. The anchor line’s elasticity also helps to dampen snatch loads, so the load becomes smoother when the boat moves in waves and wind.

Anchor windlass and recommended complement

The anchor line can be used with an anchor windlass, but the recommendation is to choose a leaded anchor line or chain depending on whether the windlass has a rope gypsy or chain gypsy. For better holding when anchoring, it is also recommended to add 5 – 10 meter of chain closest to the anchor, which adds more weight at the end and helps the anchor set more easily.
